Sticky Floors

When I first brought Wesley home from the hospital I put a lot of pressure on myself to do everything perfectly. My natural instinct was to clean everything when he was sleeping, when what I really needed was to put my feet up and close my eyes for a moment. I was constantly exhausted, grumpy, hungry... you know, all the things that make a person very pleasant to be around.

Then the most magical thing happened. I joined Pinterest. Within a few days of browsing the most random (and awesome) stuff, I came upon a meme that imparted the knowledge I desperately needed. The meme read:

"The best moms have happy children and sticky floors."

This changed everything! It was like I had been given a green light to take advantage of Wesley's naps not by cleaning, but by napping too. I am kind of embarrassed that this wisdom came from a pink screen with a cartoon mom in an apron (and not from my inner-momminess), but at least I was able to hear the message I needed when it was in front of my face. So thank you, oh wise one who pinned this in the first place!

Now I sleep a little more and clean a little less. And, happily, It turns out that my floors aren't even the worst I've seen.
